What riders love
  • The launch is good and I love how long the tunnel is for you to really feel the speed.
  • The launch is incredible and one of my favorites of all time.
  • The launch is insane and the cobra roll is insanely whippy.
  • Its theming feels like an R-rated sci-fi horror movie, featuring a full-scale UFO and aliens.
  • Queue theming is excellent as well and really gets you freaked out to ride.
  • The theming is fantastic for this one including the queue line.
  • It's always fun, and I love how you can't tell which way is up while you're in motion. It's disorienting in the best way.
  • It also packs in quite a few inversions for being in such a small space.
  • If you like intense inversions, crazy near-misses, solid launches, and more, all while in the pitch-black dark, you will love this.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Kings Dominion

The lap bars, which replaced the old shoulder restraints following the 2000 season, provide a smooth and comfortable ride experience.

Elevator, Alarm, Coaster and Animation Productions

The coaster loses some momentum after its initial blast, and the final brake section is very jarring, but it’s certainly worth a visit.

Joshua Counsil

The lap bar is strange, and the ride has a pretty nasty shake to it that caused me to hit my arms and legs repetitively throughout the experience.

Zach Payne

Right out of the station, you forcefully launch into an intense inversion, then another, and then some huge, sweeping turns.

roller rider

After a re-ride, I now believe that the trains are just shuffling and jackhammering their way through the layout, and this layout is far too intense for this level of poor tracking to be acceptable.

Michael M.

This ride packs some surprising punch, but at the cost of it being a bit uncomfortable.

Nick Barrett

The ONLY DOWNSIDE is the mid-course does slam to a stop, however the final turns are crazy intense and that last corkscrew is one final gut punch before the end.

CoasterBroCam

A fun ride and family friendly too.

Bolton Lawless

The light is the key, though- the launch shoots you into a pitch-black tunnel which makes it feel way faster than it actually is.

Zach O.

You then hit a mid-course brake run, and you slow down a lot, then leading into a tame second half that finishes off with a nice corkscrew.

roller rider

The launch is solid and the inversions are fun but the ride is pretty forceless, has a lot of slow and pointless moments and a bunch of jerky transitions.

Carter Eckhart

The thrill of the indoor launch is the draw here - nothing about the rest of Flight of Fear warrants the long lines it consistently attracts.

Bryan Bonafede

I only rode this once, because the lines were so much longer than any other ride, and I’d rather ride I305 5 times that this twice.

Motion sickness risk

I really hate this ride it made me sick for like an 1 hour

This ride packs some surprising punch, but at the cost of it being a bit uncomfortable.

Nick Barrett, Captain Coaster review

It ends with a bit of a whimper from a theming standpoint, which is pretty good otherwise.

Sean Reardon, Captain Coaster review

The theming on this is really good, I love the weird aliens in space suits like you’re entering their hangar and escaping on their ship.

David, Captain Coaster review

The launch into darkness, followed by the classic Premier Rides spaghetti bowl still delivers the thrills after all these years.

Evangelion Martini, Captain Coaster review

Waiting for the ensuing launch and then accelerating is definitely the high point of the ride.

Coaster Critic, published review

The launch is fun and the first couple of inversions are solid.
