What riders love
  • The theming is fantastic and I'm obsessed with the German lady voiceover.
  • The dip off the brake run into the mouth of the giant tree is also incredible and a really cool theming element.
  • The story has been changed, there's animatronics and so much cool stuff in the indoor portion including the old Volkswagen bug that used to sit outside where the trains start the ride.
  • I love the surprise elements and now when I stop I'm the indoor section, I know I'm gonna fall, it cam be intimidating until you fall, then a gallon of adrenaline in shot into you!
  • The surprise in the main building is awesome and forceful enough to always catch you a bit.
  • The drop track is really good, even if you know it's coming, and the theming inside the building is also fun.
  • This is a perfect family coaster. It's pure fun for all.
  • On the whole Verbolten is a shockingly intense “family” coaster that will absolutely not disappoint thrillseekers.
  • why is this way too much fun? It's really intense for a family coaster, and the theming in the indoor part is really cool!

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Busch Gardens Williamsburg

The indoor section is actually kinda intense and fast paced and the drop track is a nice fun airtime moment and suprise.

Carter Eckhart

Like a real drop ride, you pop out of your seat for a moment as the vehicle drops.

Coaster Critic

But the second half after the drop kind of dies off even with the fun airtime hill.

Coaster Key

...launches to the insanely intense indoor helix and turns to the awesome 3 different themed scenarios and drop track and even some good airtime, this is one of the coolest launched coasters out there.

Cooper Zimmerman

...the amount of time i had to wait on the block brake right after it came from the station, it like one third of the entire ride, and airtimes were mid,but it’s one of the best in the world for me now

67 67

No airtime here but it great with the sound effects.

Markos P.

The indoor section is intense, the indoor drop is forceful, the launches are smooth and exciting, and the final section mirroring Big Bad Wolf is an awesome finale.

Eric Esty

It was pretty smooth, and the surprise was surprisingly great, but it suffers from trying to be too many things.

Jackie ODoyle

There’s also a persistent rattle for the whole ride, and in the back, the drop into the second launch will make you slam your head into the seat.

Caitlin Wilcox

the only setback is the last couple turns after the iconic lake drop is probably the worst rattle out of any coaster in the park for some reason.

smacd

In My Opinion this is The Best Family Coaster in the world the theming is On Par with some european parks and The Layout is Fun and Intense.

Christofer Kofod

Its LSM launches are pretty punchy, the layout (especially the indoor section) is fun but intense, and the vertical drop section is great if not as forceful or dramatic as Intamin’s version.

Theme Park James

The entire indoor section is silently one of the most intense moments on a coaster in the park with the pitch-black setting and lots of positives.

CoasterKing

Intense whip transitions inside the show building, and heavy laterals during the former Big Bad Wolf turns.

100DollarHeadache

If anything, it’s gonna feel slightly more tame, and you’re definitely gonna handle it more.

Arithyst The Draszin

Verbolten is very well themed and is very intense, the first launch gives a good kick and sense you launch into darkness, it feels faster than it actually is.

Markos P.

The indoor twister section is very intense, and being in the dark with the music pumping and cool lighting packages makes you feel like you’re going even faster than you are.

Michael G.

The energy from the second launch is awesome, but the momentum ends quickly so that the train can slow before it drops to the river.

Coaster Critic

It was definitely a little overhyped for me, as it has some dead spots and a prominent shuffle, coupled with many moments where the train pauses for way too long.

Anthony DeNight Jr.

The capacity is excellent so long as they are loading two trains in the station at once.

100DollarHeadache

With how quick they were loading yesterday, there was so much I missed out on.

Coaster Critic

But this does get lines even with the high capacity.

Height fear

I think it’s very fun, and the drop track scared the hell out of me the first time.

BingoDingo

I used to be scared of the drop track part but now after my previous visit back in july of 2025, I enjoy it alot.

Benjamin Parker
Motion sickness risk

its an intense ride i rode it i kinda got dizzy because i freakin didnt keep my head back.

@micah4715

Only con is that I consistently nearly pass out on the first section, but some could find that part of the fun.

BingoDingo

Should I ride it?

What riders say

Praised for

FunGreat themingRider favouriteGreat launch

I give Verbolten a 8.0 for it’s very rare drop track, offering three different interior effects (which greatly add to its re-ride worthiness), its solid theming and its use of Busch Gardens natural terrain.

Coaster Critic, published review

The launches kick hard, with the trademark whine/squeal of LSM launches.

100DollarHeadache, Captain Coaster review

Verbolten was fun and is a good addition to Busch Gardens’ already excellent collection of coasters.

Coaster Critic, published review

it looks like a family coaster but this thing has so much charm and is so intense with the inside section that this is more of a thrill ride than family.

Evan S, Captain Coaster review

It’s obviously a lot more technologically advanced and the launches are fun, but you do spend a lot of time riding around in the darkness.

Coaster Critic, published review

Great, well-themed family coaster with some solid launches and an amazing surprise element inside the building.
