What riders love
  • We give high marks to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. It’s faster than it looks in videos, and the animatronics are top-notch.
  • This has some of the best theming I've ever seen, especially with that lift hill in the gem mine
  • It’s a really cool moment and actually had everyone in my train clapping along, something I’ve never experienced on a coaster before.
  • It was thrilling and faster than I had expected but still tame enough that my friends who weren't into coasters could manage it.
  • It is thrilling enough for everyone, while still being able to accommodate the vast majority of Disney patrons.
  • My son rode it at 4 and loved it.
  • This is a wonderfully smooth ride, possibly due to the fact that the train cars rotate during the ride.
  • Very well-themed and maybe the smoothest coaster I have ever ridden. The swinging cars are so fun.
  • Family friendly with a cute rocking motion controlled by the riders

Vs. other coasters at Magic Kingdom

back row, first dropa small pop
no real floatingmild drops

To my delight, the back of the train is yanked down the first drop resulting in a surprising bit of airtime.

Nick

Egad! The back had airtime!

Carrie C.

I actually got a bit of airtime in the back row and the snip snips at the end are fun, but it’s nothing too crazy.

Ryan Armstrong

And the forces were very lackluster at best, probably also the worst largest drop I’ve experienced.

James Jenkins

Don’t really understand why it’s the most popular coaster at Magic Kingdom, the theming is good and the coaster itself tracks smooth but it doesn’t really have any notable forces or moments.

Thomas Mitschke
smoothest coaster yetquietevery row
one rider disagrees

This is probably the smoothest roller coaster type ride I have ever been on.

Moved2Texas

Very well-themed and maybe the smoothest coaster I have ever ridden. The swinging cars are so fun.

Chris Jones

To us, this ride is a smoother, less noisy Big Thunder.

Tofurry

This Mine Train’s steel track provides a smooth ride

Disney Food Blog

The new Vekoma makes the ride the smoothest coaster I have ever ridden.

Jack Jack J.

it’s very very similar to the layout of big thunder mountain in disneyland anaheim... just with swinging carts. and for some reason its incredibly not smooth

Juniper
tame for adultsfine for non-coaster fans
a lot for some first-timersmost intense in Fantasyland

So for me (39yr old male) this is way too short and has literally no thrill to it.

TheStevieD

It was thrilling and faster than I had expected but still tame enough that my friends who weren’t into coasters could manage it.

Emily Pritchard

First, this is the most intense coaster throughout Fantasyland. It’s far from “it’s a small world” or Peter Pan’s Flight.

Kate Andrews

It wasn’t intense for me but it was intense for a ‘kids ride’

Matt Heap

I find it tame. Personally I think Barnstormer is more intense than SDMT, but it’s only about 10 seconds long, lol.

amberlc1979

Thought this roller coaster would be fairly mundane, but it isn’t really. The drops are not big, but the turns are pretty tight.

dbinhou7511

This ride has two fairly mild drops

Moms Make It Magical

we do not think it will be considered scary by very many people, including small children.

Disney Food Blog

Thought this roller coaster would be fairly mundane, but it isn’t really. The drops are not big, but the turns are pretty tight.

dbinhou7511

Both my SPD child and non-SPD 4 year old did NOT enjoy this ride with the bigger drops (as an SPD adult, I did thoroughly enjoy!)

We give high marks to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. It’s faster than it looks in videos, and the animatronics are top-notch.

Rhode Island couple

On the other hand, the darkness accentuates the sense of speed, making the ride feel faster than it is.

Seth Kubersky

Some people believe that the back row feels the fastest, while the front row obviously offers awesome views.

Kate Andrews

THE SEATS ARE SMALL and the ride iiisszzzzz ssslllllooooowwww.

Will Anderson

Definetely ride it in the back, the other seats are too slow,.

DO NOT RIDE IF ITS OVER 30 MINUTES! it will literally never be worth it

Tigran C.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was a great ride but not worth a 90-minute wait.

Chester

We ended up waiting 90 minutes only for the ride to last no longer than 3 minutes.

Lily C

If I hadn’t used a fast pass I would have been deeply dissatisfied, but since I wasn’t waiting in line long, it was a pleasant little ride.

Richard Aldridge

Longest queue of the day at 70 minutes as we couldn’t get lightning lane for the ride. It was well worth the wait

Emily Pritchard

This is probably the smoothest roller coaster type ride I have ever been on.

Moved2Texas

This is a wonderfully smooth ride, possibly due to the fact that the train cars rotate during the ride.

George Branum

This is an impeccably smooth, quiet roller coaster to the point where it is almost boring at times.

Michael M.

and for some reason its incredibly not smooth

Juniper

The seats on this ride are much narrower than other WDW rides.

David B
never upside downnobody reports being sick
cars swing side to sidetight turns

As someone with a tendency to motion sickness, here’s a part I wish I knew beforehand. Although your “train” is comprised of five mine carts, each can move independently of the other.

Bob Jacobs

Mine Train is a coaster that goes fast, has vehicles that swing side to side, and even incorporates tight turns. So, depending, this ride could cause motion sickness.

Kate Andrews

we have not had very many people tell us they experienced any motion sickness.

Disney Food Blog

Not worth the long wait. You don’t even notice the swinging.

Nathan

but it is so short! And the swinging barrel is barely felt.

Mitch

My son rode it at 4 and loved it. It’s a favorite of both of my kids (now age 5 & 7) and the first they request when we are planning a new trip.

Kamcole, TouringPlans forum

He loves the Barnstormer and we told him this was a little more intense. He rode it and loved it. ... He laughed the entire time ... His only concern was the old hag at the end of the ride.

jshaddo, TouringPlans forum

Super fun ride. Cute theming and a smooth ride. It was my 4 year olds first coaster though and we expected it to be a little more gentle.

Matt Heap, Captain Coaster

My daughter just turned six when we rode a few months ago. She was certainly tall enough, but hated it. But then again, I saw other six year olds that loved it. So it’s all about the individual kid.

Abe_Froman, TouringPlans forum

This is a family coaster, and for some kids this will be their first non-kiddie coaster. As an introductory "big kid" rollercoaster it does it’s job really, really well.

Chris K., Captain Coaster

We ended up waiting 90 minutes only for the ride to last no longer than 3 minutes.
