What riders love
  • If there ever was a coaster that you wanted to ride just because of length, this is it.
  • The length is also fantastic, practically a marathon of a coaster.
  • It's the sheer length and stamina of this ride. Long live The Beast.
  • The thick smell of timber, the trees rushing past lit by moonlight, the scream of the coaster echoing off the tunnel walls, the insane helix post the second-lift hill, all of it combined is breathtaking.
  • That journey in the woods is unlike anything else I've ridden, and the pitch blackness of that cold October night only enhanced the fun.
  • The way it takes you through the woods and the tunnels really helps accentuate the speed.
  • Not the fastest, highest or scariest, but brings the most smiles and pure energy along the way.
  • The helix feels like getting sucked into a black hole, and the roughness just adds to the fun.
  • I braced myself for pain, but the helixes are nothing but fun at 65mph.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Kings Island

There are also a few great moments of ejector airtime, two lift hills that give some nice views of Kings Island, and four tunnels.

Nicolas Mattioli

Right after the second trim the train hits a bump and you get thrown out of your seat, tis fun.

Coasterteam

It’s not about the airtime (though that one drop into a valley is fun), it’s about rushing through the forest at great speed with decent lats.

I'm NotHere

However, on my ride, after the first tunnel for a second I thought I would get some air on the hill but then felt that trim more than I ever have in the past and got nothing.

DoomPlague

The ride still shakes and bounces a bit on the straight sections, but I’d imagine this is wayyy smoother than it was before the retrack.

Wesley Flowers

For the record I was in the very back of the train on a wheel seat and experienced zero discomfort.

New Horizons

It’s a long, mysterious journey through the woods that feels like it’s going to tear itself apart during the final 540-degree double helix.

Sam Delany

I’ll never forget my then 7 year old daughter shouting out mid ride, "WHY. DOES. IT. HURT. SO. BAD?!" Couldn’t agree more.

shadowscare

Beast is legendary for a reason, being the longest wood coaster on Earth and still staying intense and keeping you guessing from start to end.

Ryan Armstrong

It’s complete mayhem in the helix tunnels, but for some reason, even after all these years, it’s not a rough or painful experience.

Robert Forto

This was followed by the helix which was surprisingly fun and one of the most intense moments on any ride i’ve experienced.

Nicholas Greene

...approaches the third tunnel is so unique, and creates incredible anticipation before the violent entrance into the helix; this one part of the ride outshines everything else The Beast has to offer.

Mike Davis

It just doesn’t feel fast at all to me and it’s completely forceless.

jdawg1998

The second tunnel, which normally feels like a slow crawl, was taken very quickly, which made for some very fast turns until the second lift hill.

Pillsberry123

For all of you people looking for airtime this isn’t your ride, this is all about speed and just a sense of power you wouldn’t expect from a wooden coaster.

David S.

The ending helix is by far the best part though as the laterals, ridiculous speed and sheer size make this element really stand out from other wooden coaster helices.

Cooper Zimmerman

And it goes really, really fast.

Michael M.

Fast forward to yesterday, and it was evident the trims were hitting definitely more aggressively and we could both tell.

Waltny

The only con about this ride is the second lift hill, as it does make this ride lose a lot of speed as you go up to the helix.

Forester F.

She is a little rough sometimes, but worth the queue.

NegativeGs

It was definitely worth the wait.

robintodd

The ride was worth every one!!!

chad_1138

We got off, kids giggling with glee, and went right back on again for our second walk on wait.

shadowscare

Lower and mid queues were full, waited only 58 minutes.

chad_1138

I barely got to ride this at all because it was running only 2 trains on my trip, so we didn’t ride it at night.

Silas M.

Took nearly 2 hours to get on.

Rough or rattlySlowed by trimsLittle airtime

After nearly 50 years in operation, the beast definitely deserves the title of a classic, still giving a great, out of control ride through the woods to this day.

VelociGOAT, Captain Coaster review

This was ass holy shit. No element hits. Its really cool that this coaster is a mile long but if it does nothing during that whole mile then whats the point.

TBN Dusky Becnel, Captain Coaster review

My day ride was very mediocre and the ending helix was the only good part and would give it 2.5 stars at day alone.

Caleb Kwong, Captain Coaster review

Going out in the middle of the woods is something like no other, but it doesn’t have any force to it besides the amazing helix at the end.

Jacob Bass, Captain Coaster review

They are both must-do rides again and that is saying something for the two oldest "big kid" coasters (not counting Woodstock Express) in the park.

Rivertown Rider, review

Covered in trims, probably to stave off the worst of the roughness associated with 70’s and 80’s wooden coasters.
