What riders love
  • Quiet day and great operations either way that duel loading station meant I got to lap it 5 times in a row, and the launch shocked me each and every time.
  • 0-however fast in 2 seconds hits you like a truck, and you fly over the top hat getting airtime on the way up and down.
  • you never get used to that launch even if Hershey is your home park like me.
  • The flying snake dive in particular is just twisted metal fabulousness.
  • You are just spinning so fast, then get whipped down the drop.
  • That flying snake dive is out of this world. The whip on that thing is insane.
  • Storm Runner is a 30 second long punch to the face - it has an excellent first launch and never lets up until the brake run.
  • It has bonkers positives, and you will grey out entering the first inversion after the top hat.
  • You pull MASSIVE Gs in the valley following the top hat, and the valley following that, too.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Hersheypark

It’s got a few solid pops of airtime but the standout moment is a whippy double zero g-roll that interrupts itself with a drop back toward the ground.

uhhh roller coasters

You first rise up into a hill and get ejector air!

Incredible Coasters

The launch is spectacular, but also the layout is amazing, especially the double inverting dive loop and the last airtime hill.

Alessandra

After reaching it’s top speed through a world class launch, Storm Runner kicks off a layout filled with ejector airtime, laterals, whip, positives, and more.

Anthony DeNight Jr.

And I didn’t get any air in the back of the train on the top hat hill, but it was cool having a few seconds to look around.

Coaster Critic

More than an accelerator coaster, the buttery-smooth “flying snake dive” is one of the best elements that I’ve ever experienced on any coaster.

Unworthy Rider

Intense, smooth and incredibly unique, I really can’t wait to get back on, I hope it never gets LSMed.

Mattie Fellows

Storm Runner is a fantastic, smooth accelerator coaster with a very intense launch.

Matt K

There’s a long of things sticking out of the train to bang your arms and even head on if you aren’t aware, but if you ride defensively it’s very manageable.

SocialismDoesntWork

The only real drawback may be the ride’s somewhat noticeable rattle in some of the valleys.

Thrill Report

It’s a very intense and fun coaster, but better saved for the end of a day given it feels quite short relative to other coasters at the park.

Matt Rappaport

The pure adrenaline you feel catapulting through the first launch, top hat, and inversion is one of the greatest moments on any coaster.

GoesBy Jay

Firstly, the launch was incredible and was the highlight of the ride, it was very intense and pushed me to the back of my seat.

Sean Colligan

Storm Runner is a 30 second long punch to the face - it has an excellent first launch and never lets up until the brake run.

uhhh roller coasters

I recommend sitting in the front or back, as they each offer slightly more forceful experiences in their own way.

Mostly Coasters

If you’ve ridden any hydraulic launch coaster by Intamin, you know this is going to be an intense ride.

XscreamThrills

It has a masterpiece of a launch that after witch sends the riders through a fast paced layout full of rare inversions and a few surprising airtime pops.

Avery Green

This is just the beginning though, the rest of the ride is packed full of super speedy and intense inversions.

Producer Land

It gets right into the action with a super fast launch, and it’s my personal favorite accelerator.

Basil Robinson

The entire ride is very well paced, without dead spots, smooth and in my opinion not too short.

Simon

That being said, this element is by no means a dull, as it’s still fast-paced going from left to right.

Mostly Coasters

While the coaster is still over in a flash, that’s because of how fast you rip through the layout.

Canobie Coaster

Storm Runner’s launch, top hat, and first few elements make it worth waiting in line alone.

Matt Rappaport

Quiet day and great operations either way that duel loading station meant I got to lap it 5 times in a row, and the launch shocked me each and every time.

Michael G.

The wait time was only about 3 minutes and it was definitely worth it!!

ciaraaa

Such a unique layout and great inversions, although a short ride, the lines aren’t usually long if there’s 2 trains running.

Wayne Reesman

Capacity is a low point (I’m writing this four months later and it’s still on one train ops for the season!).

uhhh roller coasters

However, Storm Runner has had a surge in popularity in recent years, resulting in 1 hour or more wait times.

Criticised for

Too short

Ngl, This is my favorite inamin launch (I haven’t rode Any other hydraulic launches 😭) lowkey my favorite in the park.

John Doe, Captain Coaster review

Trust me its good but its just too short to give more than 3 stars, if it was just another 2 good elements in the mix of the ride, it would be loads better

John alien, Captain Coaster review

The launch is absolutely amazing and by far the best one I’ve ever experienced, the inversions are elite, especially the flying snake dive.

KingKidCobra, Captain Coaster review

It’s a pretty powerful launch and is definetly a lot of fun.

Incredible Coasters, published review

This hydraulic cable launch coaster from Intamin does not only run up the tophead, it also has a very interesting layout with a lot of forces.

Mike H., Captain Coaster review

The launch was fun, but not as amazing as advertised by others in the coaster enthusiasts community.
