What riders love
  • the out-and-back design flows so naturally, making it enjoyable every time i ride it (a lot considering this is my home park) at any part of the day.
  • I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did, and it is one that I will never pass up when I visit Hersheypark.
  • Maybe its bias as I grew up on this coaster but I always have a good time on this coaster.
  • This classic woodie is a very fun ride, and it gives great floater airtime.
  • It’s one of the smoothest wooden coasters I’ve ridden and it has nice floater airtime.
  • You start out with that surprisingly steep first drop and with a lap bar that did not even touch me it was even better.
  • The running lights at night and the old-school curved brake run/station are nostalgia visualized.
  • Charming classic woodie that's very smooth for its age and has a great location in the heart of the park.
  • real big fan of how it travels around its section of the park.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Hersheypark

Comet is definitely a front row ride - it’s not just smoother up there, the airtime is also stronger in the second half.

Kw6sTheater

I heard people saying that this thing had ejector, and I got mild floater at best.

Ben Lilly

This ride as awesome ejector airtime moments.

Sharon Ludwig

it isn’t really trying to be the biggest or most intense ride in the park, but it still delivers a fun and energetic layout with many small pops of airtime and some great speed.

smacd

Yeah it definitely does not have that much airtime, but it’s still a fun little ride.

Pear

It’s a fairly standard older wood coaster that has finally gotten some fresh lumber and is riding somewhat comfortably.

David

The rest of the layout, while admittedly very smooth for its age, has been trimmed to death that it’s a completely forceless meandering journey around the hillside.

uhhh roller coasters

The turnarounds and many other moments have good laterals, but the rest of the ride is mild and surprisingly smooth.

Bubble Gaming

It’s unsurprisingly a bit rough and typically has surprisingly long lines, but if the line isn’t too long it’s worth the ride.

Ryan Armstrong

they need to do something about the seat belts, went on it a few times and during my last ride the belt loosened ALOT during each drop, i kept having to tighten it and it hurt alot

@Nonexistentcreature00

This is a surprisingly forceful and fun woodie.

Ryan Armstrong

But it is a fun, intense ride.

Sharon Ludwig

It might not be the most thrilling coaster but it does the job of a mid-tier woody at this great park.

Max S.

It’s not that it’s bad but it’s just really forceless, yet really fun.

Wicked Cyclone

Its way faster in real life and i don’t recommend if your scared of rickety ride but if you suicidal you may like it bc your butt goes off the seat

@scar1543

There’s this absolutely abysmal trim later on that kills this really long second half delivering literally no airtime.

Gwazi Three Two Five

Now up to this point, Comet has been flying, but this turnaround features a trim brake.

Canobie Coaster

This ride always has a long line, and the buzzbars were done away with a few years ago, which i’m glad I got a ride with.

Brandon Gorgone

The capacity is one of the worst in the park though so maybe wait until the end of the day to ride it.

David
Height fear

I like it but the drop scared me a little but it was good

@thekeziahaynes

The height terrified me, and none of the hypercoasters had been built yet, so like mentioned, Comet towered above Founder’s Square.

@OreoTheWolf
Worth the queue

I typically love old wood coasters, but this ride is not worth the wait.

Cameron Vincent

It’s also quite a long ride, so you feel like you get your wait’s worth by the time you hit the breaks.

MapleFlakes

Should I ride it?

David, Captain Coaster review

Sometimes what I take away from a coaster is so simple that I don’t write a long review, so I’ll just say what I want to say now: it’s insanely smooth for a wooden coaster but the airtime is so weak it’s basically non-existent.

roller rider, Captain Coaster review

Old woodie with basically no restraint ( I rode after the restraints got changed, but I’m small enough that it was a good 3 inches from my legs ) and has ejector airtime, what not to love.

Darcy, Captain Coaster review

It gives you a feeling of airtime that you can’t get on many other woodies due to the buzz bars, and this coaster has an amazing first half, and when you sit in the back row, you’ll be reaching for that lap bar going down the second drop.

Charles Kesil, Captain Coaster review

Yeah it definitely does not have that much airtime, but it’s still a fun little ride.
