What riders love
  • Hill after hill sent me out of my seat. The sheer volume of times I was airborne was really thrilling.
  • If you think your local hyper coaster makes you feel like flying, wait till you ride Phoenix.
  • Seriously, every single hill feels like it's trying to fling you off of the roller coaster and onto the tracks.
  • This is probably the coaster I have felt the least secure riding which makes it as good as it is.
  • Add to this the lap-bars that lock about a foot off of your thighs and well, you get the picture.
  • I sincerely hope that Knoebels never touches the restraints on this legend; I'm sure the ride would still be great, but the buzz bars make this ride the icon it is today.
  • Multiple rides had us laughing like mad at the air we were getting.
  • Such a fun ride, no wait, and brought out lots of giggles.
  • Phoenix is pure fun from start to finish and it just keeps getting better and better till you whip around the final turn into the station.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Knoebels Amusement Resort

From the big drops delivering floater to the epic bunny hill finale that will guarantee some slamming into the buzz bar then to the seat!

Vinnie T

I typically like the back seat on traditional coasters, but the Phoenix has such REALLY GREAT airtime in the front it’s hilarious.

The Reverend

The airtime this ride provides is unlike any other coaster mainly because of the restraints the ride has.

Keystone Coasters

The aforementioned high lap bars combined with Phoenix’s pedestrian, but air-time packed layout added up to 20-some people floating out of their seats 8 or 9 times.

Coaster Critic

I was in my seat for a few of the hills and the ones with airtime it was just a quick pop.

jesuslovesyou

The ride itself was easily the smoothest wooden coaster I’ve ever been on, and that’s shocking considering it is over half a century old!

Pidge Lintner

The seats are comfortable, the tunnel starting off the ride is mad dark and kinda funny, the pacing is excellent, the operations were perfect almost all day leading to minimal waits, and the airtime,...

Ryan Armstrong

The next turnaround is the one rough spot on Phoenix, but it is astonishingly smooth considering the sheer age of this coaster.

Kw6sTheater

It’s surprisingly comfortable for how fast it goes.

anonymous Outcast

On the final stretch you leave your seat so many times that on consecutive rides your rear end starts to hurt.

The Reverend

there are actually bruises on my thighs...

@Coasters_cut

It’s not as intense as most of my faves, but it’s quite enjoyable.

Sean Reardon

Phoenix is a great ride for all ages and the average park-goers.

Coaster Critic

Best part of this ride is getting lifted from your seat while going mach 15, all the while only having a lap bar.

Robert Miller

i rode it today and i think knoebels did something there is airtime on ever drop or hill theres also vicious laterals it was hauling!

@Coasters_cut

I love airtime (Specifically ejector), but there are a couple of dead spots in the ride, most notably the turnarounds.

Samuel Stone

It gives some of the best ejector in the northeast, only challenged by skyrush, my 1, it is amazing that a coaster this old can be this good, the only con is the trim break.

Ajani J.

On top of that absurd ride experience, the operations on this ride are the fastest I’ve ever seen.

MapleFlakes

...the tunnel starting off the ride is mad dark and kinda funny, the pacing is excellent, the operations were perfect almost all day leading to minimal waits, and the airtime, airtime, AIRTIME!!!

Ryan Armstrong

EDIT: I wanted to add, it took less than a minute to dispatch and load the cars!!!!

Jake The coaster dude

During the post ACE convention ERT in June, Twister was a walk-on while Phoenix had a 3-4 train wait all evening.

Riverview Mike

Capacity was horrible with one train running on a busy August weekend.

Coaster Nut
Height fear

I have never felt compelled to hold onto handlebars for my own safety, but this ride sincerely scared the crap out of me.

MapleFlakes

i sped all of my rides on it laughing and screaming, the first time was almost scary,i didn’t expect that airtime form a coaster realtivly small and not so fast

Strong airtimeRider favouriteComfy restraintsEjector airtimeShort waitsFloaty airtime

This was the first major coaster I ever rode, and although my opinion of it has fluctuated, I’ve come to adore the unhinged airtime.

Beau, Captain Coaster review

Just a basic, old wooden coaster that gets way too much praise due to its buzz bars.

Justin Lininger, Captain Coaster review

The airtime this ride provides is unlike any other coaster mainly because of the restraints the ride has.

Keystone Coasters, Captain Coaster review

Phoenix has a special place in my heart, as it is one of the first coasters I have ever ridden and it still holds up as one of my favorites.

Alexander Marko, Captain Coaster review

Phoenix is pure fun from start to finish and it just keeps getting better and better till you whip around the final turn into the station.

CoasterFanatic, review

I’m not to sure what the hype around Phoenix is, its an okay wood coaster.
