What riders love
  • Back cart on this gets you absolutely crazy airtime -- I felt like I was out of my seat for most of the ride.
  • The airtime is still great especially the third and fourth hills.
  • It surprised me the first time I rode it with how long it was and how much air you get.
  • It’s tucked way in the back of the park in the woods, so night rides are pitch black and just overall insane.
  • It also looks really pretty in the back of the park overlooking everything.
  • Long ride into the woods that is full of floater.
  • One of my first coasters ever, this ride has a soft spot for me. I love the low banking turns and the bumpiness of the ride.
  • It was world class when it was built 45 years ago and it is still a great, great coaster.
  • Was my first roller coaster as a kid and I still love it.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Mid America Adventure

As the ride goes on, the pace quickens, the airtime and laterals strengthen, and the trees get closer and closer as you go deeper into the forest.

Eric Esty

The airtime on this is great and the ejector moments are fantastic but the trade-off is not worth it.

Max S.

Long ride into the woods that is full of floater.

Chris Jones

The ejectors made me literally float out of my seat on the last few hills, the drop after floating from my seat back to it was painful, even better.

Enzo

At the bottom of every hill that doesn’t even have airtime it’s so rough and janky.

Brian DeYoung

This ride is also the bounciest coaster I’ve ridden but it’s somehow still smooth, which adds some tiny airtime pops on some of the hills which is kinda fun.

Carter Eckhart

This isn’t as bad as other rides even at the park, but it’s very rough, almost unbearable during high vertical G-force and laterals.

BLITZN00DLE

I was looking forward to the airtime-filled layout and the setting in the woods, but the roughness definitely reduced how great those things were for me.

Shy Guy Coasters

Not super intense and obviously no inversions but it’s a very fun ride.

Clayton

Fast forward 8 years, this thing was tame.

@kanefears4245

Overall this ride is just pure fun and my last ride of the night ride on it when it was hauling like crazy was a very memorable experience.

Carter Eckhart

It’s a real shame because I love the terrain and out and back layout and the speed.

David

This coaster seems faster than it is.

Brian Sheldon

Sometimes it’s fairly smooth and really fast but others it can rattle you pretty good.

@Merkerb

What is crazy is that I remember in the 90s many times waiting in line for 45 min to an hour, so to see such a short line makes me jealous lol

Growing up, Screamin’ Eagle was literally my favorite roller coaster for a long time.

Matthew Ebert, Captain Coaster review

Six Flags St Louis has officially let this thing deteriorate to a state of unrideable roughness.

Mike Davis, Captain Coaster review

I love the location of Screamin Eagle: it traverses through the trees and gives you a lengthy out-and-back experience that makes for a pretty ride, but that’s where it stops for me.

Ethan Finn, Captain Coaster review

While not perfect I think what it sets out to do it does well, this coaster also includes my favorite airtime moment EVER, the drop off the second turn.

Lane B., Captain Coaster review

The least rough wooden in the park...but that’s not saying much.

Alexander Sims, Captain Coaster review

A somewhat rough classic woodie that offers a healthy serving of good airtime along its out and back layout, Screamin’ Eagle is good ride, but definitely not as good (nor as re-rideable) as American Thunder.
