What riders love
  • You get yanked over the crest and it lasts forever.
  • As for the ride itself, the drop is one of the best out there giving seemingly eternal airtime and will violently slam you back into your seat at the end.
  • My favorite part is probably the first drop in the back row because you get sustained ejector air going down that drop.
  • The first speed hill delivers the perfect mix of floater and ejector before leading into that massive sustained floater hill that honestly reminds me of Mako. I'm out of my seat over the entire crest every single time.
  • I found myself having constant airtime on this, to the point that it felt like I was only sitting 5% of the ride.
  • The ride itself is amazing and has produced the most floater airtime I've ever felt in my life, and that's shocking even for me.
  • The helix is crazy intense, and the final pop of airtime before the brakes catches you by surprise.
  • Something I appreciated about Orion was that its helix (Orion's Belt) was actually intense, unlike Fury's, making for a nice mixup of forces.
  • Somehow I nearly blacked out on the helix which I don’t know why or how that happened.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Kings Island

After the wave turn is a turnaround that goes into a speed hill offering great airtime and then another hill that continues to give airtime.

Bubble Gaming

I actually got really nice floater on the sideways hill, and the other sideways hill before the brake run was sideways ejector.

IceePirate

Good rides on Orion are very fun, the first drop is very long and floaty, the speed hill provides strong floater, and the final banked, dive like turn is fantastic, and serves as a great finale.

Landan Vance

Whereas Diamondback is packed with “floater” air, Orion is more aggressive, offering riders plenty of “ejector” air.

Coaster101

The middle and back rows were a tad lackluster, perhaps because the ride has little airtime (maybe less than 10 total seconds).

NegativeGs

I’m fully in the moment and I know it’s actually happening, yet at the same time I feel like I am quietly and smoothly flying through a dream.

VortexBFForever

...is a bit biased because this was my first giga, and I’ve only ridden one other (MF), but I thought this coaster was fantastic, from the theming and ride ops to airtime and comfortable restraints.

Grey K.

It’s really fast, but it’s really smooth," she said.

Nedra McDaniel

Fantastic airtime throughout and as always, super comfortable and free feeling.

IronChef C.

The dark blue train is the smoothest IMO and the middle seats are definitely better than the outside but you will rattle a bit no matter what.

MrSourNinja

Everyone talks about how smooth Orion is, but I found that it rattled in a very specific way that makes my head hurt very quickly.

Michael M.

Something I appreciated about Orion was that its helix (Orion’s Belt) was actually intense, unlike Fury’s, making for a nice mixup of forces.

Wesley Flowers

It’s deceivingly intense! I never thought I would ever say the words “sustained ejector,” but that’s how the speed hill is.

KIghostguy

The array of forces are decent but Orion feels like it lacks a discernable identity compared to its contemporaries.

Bryan Bonafede

In fact, my vision typically “grays out” due to the intensity of the element.

Coaster101

I’ve not ’greyed’ out on Orion’s helix. The upward helix on the Backlot Stunt Coaster feels more extreme to me.

NegativeGs

Orion’s sense of speed is very good, and it keeps that pace throughout the entire ride, which in my opinion is its biggest strength.

roller rider

Saying that, I love Orion’s height, quick lift to the first drop and the speed it keeps up throughout the ride.

jbeast

If it didn’t make my head hurt, I could easily see it making my top 10 because of its excellent pacing and good layout.

Michael M.

It’s incredibly fast but mostly underwhelming.

Thunderbolt

The biggest let down with this ride is how hard the trim hits but that can of course change in the future.

Benjamin22

The wave turn just felt slow and forceless, and the reverse treble clef had good views, but was disappointing in the force department.

Izaiah Bess

A lot of people call this ride too short but it certainly did enough to satisfy me, especially considering the consistenly short wait it had.

Cooper Zimmerman

Got my access pass, came back hour later and walked right on.

FreedomPenguin

There is also very quick dispatches and capacity but the disappointing part is that its a short ride for this insane looking coaster.

Isaiah White

When I rode today, I waited 2 hr 15 min with the line beginning just outside the ride entrance/old Firehawk exit.

VortexBFForever

This is the only ever coaster in my life that I have only had one ride it’s all still kind of a blur, hot sweaty day, face masks, long line.  Id love to give my review but I don’t even remember it.

Height fear

Orion having a 300 foot drop felt almost too much.

Christopher S.

Also first time I was Taken aback looking down at a drop in years.

Too shortWeak layout

My favorite at the park! The first drop is fantastic, and although the lift hill doesn’t reach 300 ft., it really does feel like the other 3 giga coasters I’ve done in the US.

Max S., Captain Coaster review

The drop is great then takes 2 giant elements with no airtime 180’ off the ground to scrub off all the speed for good measure before hitting an amazing speed hill.

B West, Captain Coaster review

Another great creation of B&M, this blue giga coaster may be outshined by a coaster 1/3 of it’s size in the same park, but this ride delivers a fairly intense experience, most notably the Orion’s Belt, and some great moments of airtime.

A Wild Walter, Captain Coaster review

Possibly the best first drop in the world, followed by a creative layout that does more than “turn” and “overbanked turn” (looking at you Mille).

Birb from not Canada, Captain Coaster review

I got 6 awesome rides in today.  I love it.  My favorite part of the whole ride is just after the headchopper, just as you’re cresting the hill.
