What riders love
  • Fortunately, the ride has a great ending that will put you in a better mood with an insanely intense drawn out helix where you can feel the blood rushing to your feet, before you slam into the break run.
  • The Gs on the helix were so intense, it took a lot of effort to remain conscious.
  • Goliath is so graceful but incredibly intense at the same time.
  • The coaster races faster and faster toward a tunnel that looks the size of a snake hole. You duck, you scream, you suck your arms in as the car shoots through the tunnel.
  • I sat in the last row, and that first drop launches you into the air like crazy.
  • The first drop is super smooth and seems like it goes on forever.
  • This thing is probably the smoothest ride at SFMM and it's super fun.
  • This coaster is also one of the smoothest at Magic Mountain and has a very comfortable lap bar.
  • this ride is a monster, absolutely blistering speed, powerful positives & a incredibly smooth ride over 25 years after it opened, it still holds up to this day.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain

Based on what I had heared I was expecting this to be really boring but drop (until it straightens out), airtime and positives were really quite strong.

Flurin S.

The restraints seem quite roomy and as a result, it gives great airtime on its sustained floaty airtime hill.

GigaG11

The closer to the front of the train you sit the more floater you’ll get over the camelback.

Sean

Compared to the other hyper coasters I’ve ridden though, it falls a bit short with it’s lack of airtime and subpar first drop.

Coaster Critic

Many enthusiasts dont like this ride because there is very little airtime but that dosen’t take anything away from my expierience.

Lukedaballer

A good giga coaster,i loved the First drop and the filan helix, the seta are quite confortabile and the ride overall Is good

Alessio Romano

There’s some comfy lapbar restraints on the trains, but the ride is substantially crippled by mid-course brakes which rob the train of any kind of momentum and slow it to a crawl.

Theme Park James

this ride is a monster, absolutely blistering speed, powerful positives & a incredibly smooth ride over 25 years after it opened, it still holds up to this day.

SnowyShores

It’s still a very smooth ride, and the restraints are the most comfortable in the whole park.

Sean

The helix was a bit rough though (I almost grayed out), as were the repeated sudden brakes at the end.

Proxy 303

The following turns are intense, in a mostly enjoyable way, but the pacing and lack of a standout element mean that I can’t place it too high.

Blake Stoudt

I’m all about g-forces and intensity in doses, but if it’s that strong, I’d have to say it’s too much.

Coaster Critic

It was a very intense ride because of the positive G’s pulled on this ride, and the lap bar was made for your comfort and was very smooth too.

Niko Ramos

But the second part is way too intense.

Olivier Simard-Casanova

It’s not very intense, its layout is pretty dull, and I did not like blacking out a little towards the end.

Dalia

The first drop would be better if it were steeper but it is still gets you going very fast and going through the tunnel at the bottom is awesome.

Jeremy Niswonger

The first section - including the first drop which ends by plunging into a below ground tunnel - is very speedy though.

Theme Park James

...as others,](https://www.coaster101.com/2019/06/24/rating-every-coaster-at-six-flags-magic-mountain/) it’s slowed down over the years, and the mid-course brake run hurts the pacing of the ride a lot.

Coaster101

That first drop is one of THE great coaster thrills, and the only thing that is worth dogging on is that it slams the brakes at the midpoint.

Jason Haggstrom

I was very skeptical about it due to the *VERY MIXED* reviews I’ve heard but the line was short so I decided to try it.

Elan Godoy

Train dispatch took a solid five minutes, and despite it being a quiet day, I still waited over 45 minutes - meanwhile, coasters like X2 were a walk-on.

François Bln

I remember going to the park on spring break and waiting almost an hour to ride the new ride.

Natasha Evans
Height fear

It was NOT as scary as I thought it would be.

@gizzyg512

...slowing hang over the first drop and soon begin to freefall...I’ll admit I was terrified and was thinking, omg this drop is forever...once the drop ended though I realized how much fun it felt, that...

Motion sickness risk

You’re not gonna faint or puke lol.

Joolz US

Just thinking about Hyper Twister Coaster 1 makes me feel sick.

Criticised for

Slowed by trimsOverratedLittle airtimeWeak layoutToo intense for some

The ride has a very intense helix but doesn’t do a whole lot else.

Jack Jack J., Captain Coaster review

its so scary and fun tilting towards the side with only a very confortamble lap bar keeping you in.

Marcelo Milk, Captain Coaster review

This was my first hyper, and even though I have ridden better ones now, I still enjoy this ride because it has plenty of thrills.

Erik C., Captain Coaster review

Make the first drop steeper and get rid of that horrid break run in the middle (you literally decelerate to zero), and you’ve got yourself a solid hyper.

Logan Barer, Captain Coaster review

“The coaster races faster and faster toward a tunnel that looks the size of a snake hole.

Jeffrey Gettleman, review

It’s hard to image a 250ft coaster being dull, but somehow SFMM managed it with this one!
