What riders love
  • Also the butterfly loop is probably the best part of the ride.
  • Second, the ride, even though it was slightly rough in the valleys, ran great and offered intense inversions.
  • I like how the rides layout is almost entirely over a lake.
  • Super scenic ride.
  • The layout is super compact which allows for some insane near misses.
  • Definitely an underrated ride with some intense positives and insane headchoppers.
  • Great head choppers too.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Six Flags Over Georgia

What I thought would be a rough, unenjoyable ride, turned out to be a slightly rough but overall smooth and intense ride.

Aric The Kakapo

Sadly the renovations didn’t do enough to turn Blue Hawk into a wonderful ride, and it remains a headache enducing clunky old rollercoaster.

Theme Park James

I was aware of what type of coaster I was riding and did everything I could to alleviate the headbanging and the roughness--to no avail.

Brian Sheldon

With very reasonable wait times, improved ergonomics, and a force-filled track layout, I highly recommend you check this out on your day at SFOG!

Coaster Critic

This coaster has a great layout packed with intense inversions, but is let down by the old-school Arrow/Vekoma tangent radius design.

Michael M.

Second, the ride, even though it was slightly rough in the valleys, ran great and offered intense inversions.

Aric The Kakapo

Blue Hawk is a solid mid-sized looper with a neat location, some good Gs (positive and laterals), a forceful butterfly loop you’ll only find on one other coaster, good headchoppers.

Majorian

It still has a bounce and can rattle a little, but this ride is intense and has good trains.

Joe Bord

Smooth, decently intense, and super fun.

@charleskummerer

You do get a nice sense of speed down the first drop in the back row.

Chris2626

Its short, angled drop means that at about halfway through the coaster feels like it’s being pushed through the inversions rather than flying through them.

Taylor Williams

I rode this coaster today and it almost gave me a headache because it was so shaky and it had a humongous rattle, no wonder it’s a walk on.

@The_over_GA_enthusiast.365

On the days it is open, it runs one train, and you’re probably enjoying the line more than the ride.

Maddux
Motion sickness risk

My daughter vomited 4 times in a row walking through the exit.

Myroslav

But me and my sister went the wednesday after Memorial Day 2026 and I got violently nauseous from how aggressively the coaster was slamming the restraint into my solar plexus.

I’m usually bracing to get beat up by a Vekoma looper but they did such a great job smoothing this one out.

Max S., Captain Coaster review

Pros: the layout is unique, the setting is very nice, the vest restraints make headbanging impossible, and I wasn’t in pain the whole time.

Sam Dickson, Captain Coaster review

It definitely is shaky and rattly but the restraints keep it from head banging.

Jack Jack J., Captain Coaster review

What I thought would be a rough, unenjoyable ride, turned out to be a slightly rough but overall smooth and intense ride.

Aric The Kakapo, Captain Coaster review

That earns it major plus points in my book and makes for some fantastic photo opportunities, the sapphire track reflecting off of the cool cobalt water.

Coaster Critic, published review

Blue Hawk has nice inversions and a beautiful setting out over the water, but rough trackwork and tight restraints make it a pretty uncomfortable experience.
