What riders love
  • It's very intense, smoother than some other rides (although it still does have a noticeable rattle), and has the vest restraints.
  • It’s not much more intense than Cyclone, but the pauses on both of the hills are great for building up anticipation.
  • Up front the backwards part for the vertical loop was good.
  • No headbanging thanks to the restraints and the Inversions were quite intense.
  • Do the vests make the Boomerang into the best ride in the world? No, but they certainly make the ride experience a lot better, allowing you to better enjoy the simple shuttle coaster as it goes backwards and forwards through its compact layout.
  • It is still a rough ride, but the vest restraints let you appreciate the super intense inversions.
  • The flying cobras is just a standard vekoma boomerang with its simple layout, but it is much improved by the new vest restraint trains that the ride has.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Carowinds

In common with other Vekoma Boomerangs it is rather intense and a little rough, but certainly more comfortable that some other examples.

Theme Park James

The little theming there is on this ride is decent, and it’s not nearly as rough as some other Vekomas I’ve ridden.

Sam Dickson

Fishland

It’s very intense, smoother than some other rides (although it still does have a noticeable rattle), and has the vest restraints.

Jonas

Vest restraints are very comfortable but the inversions are still pretty janky but It’s a boomerang after all.

Chris2626

Though it’s hardly worth the wait it gets, the loop packs surprising intensity when taken backwards, and the cobra roll is actually pretty fun.

MapleFlakes

Of course, they are.more intense backwards, and the vertical loop made me fold in half lol.

Aric The Kakapo

No headbanging thanks to the restraints and the Inversions were quite intense.

Jack Jack J.

The inversions are fast and intense, especially when taken in reverse.

Michael M.

Feels like it’s designed to be an introduction to the concept of a coaster going backwards, and it’s very good at this.

nobody important

I could see it having capacity problems, but there was hardly anyone queuing for it when I was there.

Michael M.

Wait times were in the sun and too long. I find these boomarang coasters uninteresting, but it decently exhilarating.

Myroslav

Biggest downside is how slowly the line moves.

Jonas, Captain Coaster review

I didn’t think I could ride a worse boomerang than the one in Ocean City MD but somehow this is absolute garbage.

B West, Captain Coaster review

What may seem like your bog standard Vekoma Boomerang on the surface is actually something a bit more rare; this is a Boomerang that the park decided to actually put money into and buy the new trains with the new vest restraints!

Evangelion Martini, Captain Coaster review

Theme Park James, published review

The theming was nice and the updated restraints don’t headbang as the older ones did, but there’s nothing remarkable (nor offensive) about a well-maintained clone you can get for the credit and then jet to one of the headliners.
