What riders love
  • Thunder Run also has some amazing sustained floater airtime on those first 3 hills and I like how fast the turns feel.
  • Airtime hills give sustained ejector on a good day, the turns are very intense and lateral filled, and it’s a surprisingly great ride overall!
  • Pretty smooth and has some actual airtime thrown in with some good Gs on the turns.
  • A really solid wooden coaster, especially with the redone first drop and subsequent hill.
  • The first drop to the back turnaround are definitely the highlight.
  • This is now, or more correctly, is once again, an excellent wooden coaster.
  • I thought the layout, intensity and airtime were fantastic and I’m not typically a wooden coaster fan.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Kentucky Kingdom

I rode it in the day first and after the turn after the drop it was the roughest coaster I have ridden but it had great artime and laterals.

J&B FitzTubeKidz

The first drop has some crazy airtime, and one or two of the other drops was good as well, but other a couple drops, the coaster wasn’t amazing.

Clayton

I rode in the back on a hot day and remember getting zero air time, but at least the lateral forces were decent.

@HYDRAdude

Yes smoothness is actually a pro, this ride is butter smooth and doesn’t hurt one bit which is especially surprising because it is built by Dinn.

Carter Eckhart

It is very smooth in the front but sadly rough in the back.

J&B FitzTubeKidz

While the initial section of the ride was enjoyable, the latter half presented challenges with increased roughness and less favorable elements.

Gunnar Wegg

if you thought this was smooth, i guess we got WAY different seats, because i got front and back row on this and my brain fell out.

cuyuter

It has good speed and intensity and pacing overall but just needs regular maintenance replacing its lumber to keep it smooth.

David

The rest of the ride doesn’t give any notable airtime, but the laterals get more intense as each u-turn gets tighter.

Eric Esty

Rumor is that Gravity Group retracking has really helped…I thought the layout, intensity and airtime were fantastic and I’m not typically a wooden coaster fan.

Sean Reardon

Pretty smooth and has some actual airtime thrown in with some good Gs on the turns.

Jack Jack J.

This ride had some pretty ok airtime and good forces and it was very smooth for a wooden coaster but at the end there was a very bad pothole that hurt my head and not only that but the seatbelts...

Logan Boulis

It doesn’t really have any tricks, it just delivers speed and turns and a few hills and that is enough.

Brian Sheldon

Decent maintenance of speed, but you don’t get a good sense of it with some of the straight track.

Zach S.

This turn is at pretty much ground level and is taken very fast providing an intense feeling of speed and some slight positive This turn is also very smooth for an element like this on an old wooden...

RADZADproductions

One train combined with an unmotivated crew makes the wait unbearable.

Clayton, Captain Coaster review

This ride was deeply uncomfortable, it shaked my head a lot and there were some bumps that hurt the neck.

Maria Lorena, Captain Coaster review

It’s not something worth marathoning, especially with SC and LR in the park, but a fun older woodie with a few decent airtime moments.

Glass Cannonn, Captain Coaster review

I rode it in the day first and after the turn after the drop it was the roughest coaster I have ridden but it had great artime and laterals.

Lacie Lawson, Captain Coaster review

The spots that have been refurbished by the Gravity Group are incredible, namely the first drop.

Ethan S., Captain Coaster review

I literally got insane standing up airtime on the first airtime hill, and the second two are no slouch either.
