What riders love
  • The launch is so punchy and it really caught me off guard.
  • I have a clip of my first time riding it and my reaction to the launch. I screamed like a 2 year old girl.
  • Also the launch in the front feels illegal.
  • It delivers surprisingly strong airtime and some good laterals too.
  • The rest of the layout is shockingly good, though, with the hills giving great airtime even in a middle row.
  • The launch is incredible, and the airtime is unexpectedly powerful.
  • From there you have no idea where you are going as it twists and winds around itself through a heavily wooded area that you can not see from anywhere in the park. The first ride is a total mystery.
  • The location in the woods is super cool and the turns pull some pretty good positive Gs.
  • The view at the peaks of the rolling hills was very impressive too.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Silver Dollar City

Powder Keg is a really unique ride with a very punchy launch and a one-of-a-kind layout with some fun airtime, intense moments, and some fun laterals.

Drive Safely

The launch is very weak but the airtime is insane in the back row.

Noah Sanchez

After that, the ride goes through several strong floater hills throughout a great setting and a really fun layout.

Inverted Thrills

The front row has plenty of fantastic airtime moments.

Jack Jack J.

This delivers an ejector pop of airtime up front, but it’s a weaker pop towards the back of the train.

Canobie Coaster

Sure, it might not have inversions or high intensity, but it has some amazing floater airtime and smooth turns.

@Scratchster

I really have a soft spot for unique coasters as long as they are fun and at least mostly comfortable and this checks off both boxes.

Glass Cannonn

The old track from buzzsaw falls has gotten a rattle but the rest is near butter and of course a night ride is awesome.

Danny Miller

It has a fantastic launch, great elements, airtime and overbanked turns for days, and is glass smooth.

Carter M.

The rest of the ride felt like riding down a cobblestone street in a shopping cart and the restraints really hurt on the airtime.

CoasterKiwi

So like, Yeah its intense, one of the best launches out there, but the rattle does sometimes get to you.

Derek Stearns

This ride is extremely fun, the launch is very intense starting from a standstill and it feels like your stomach is being pushed out of your body.

Alexander Hixson

The launch is very forceful and the rest if the ride is pretty good as well.

Jack Jack J.

After the launch, the airtime you get on the first hill (especially row one) is quite intense.

Max S.

But come on, the launch gives a lot of forces and the airtime on this ride is unearthly.

Noah Eastwood

no matter how many times you watch this video or watch your friends get launched from the viewing platform it’s will never prepare you for the intensity it brings.

@lexiwuzhear

So far, that launch is the most forceful launch that i’ve been on (which will hopefully change when I go to Cedar Point for the first time this June) Silver Dollar City has a terrific lineup with...

@OutlawRunnerSDC

It remains fast and smooth throughout.

Brian Sheldon

It’s got great pacing and it’s also completely smooth.

Coaster Critic

The lift hill absolutely nukes the pacing but it’s otherwise a very strong ride despite not being particularly impressive on its face.

Nathan F

The rest of the layout is decent, but I feel like the lift hill near the end feels like a dead spot and kind of kills the momentum.

Max S.

Try to at least get one ride on this when you come to silver dollar city, but from what I remember it’s like the 2nd longest wait in the park behind Fire in the Hole.

Lorenzo Perez

The capacity on this coaster is horrible.

Noah Sanchez
