What riders love
  • It has a great setting in the woods and takes advantage with huge sweeping turns.
  • It's super fun rushing through the trees.
  • The best non Disney Mine Train I’ve done with an amazing setting and moderate thrills.
  • A cool mine train, and extremely fast for one.
  • The beginning is EXTREMELY FORCEFUL, and the tunnel reminded me so much of The Beast at Kings Island.
  • My glorious king. I love ThuNderaTion.
  • From the setting, to the layout, to that wild helix into the tunnel and slanted final drop, Thunderation is an incredible ride and should not be slept on.
  • Add in decent drops, decent speed and awesome tunnels and helixes and you have yourself a great little coaster.
  • Arrow Dynamics was really creative with the layout on this mine train (It even inspired the first drop on time traveler!).

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Silver Dollar City

It’s smooth for an old Arrow and really has some amazing height and speed to it, far more than any other mine train I’ve ridden.

David

Anyways, besides the rattle, it’s surprisingly intense, and honestly I wish I could get one more chance to ride it before SDC takes it out.

Emerson Head

Even though it’s so rough and uncomfortable if you don’t have the credit and you like arrow mine trains then maybe book a flight to Springfield.

Cali Thoosie

It gains speed during the first turnaround but then dips even sharper, making the second turnaround into the tunnel a surprisingly intense experience for a family thrill ride.

Max S.

The beginning is EXTREMELY FORCEFUL, and the tunnel reminded me so much of The Beast at Kings Island.

Christian Ortiz

An entry-level family coaster with some nice speed and intensity - that’s what we’ve got here.

Sean Reardon

This was my first ride at silver dollar city… and lemme tell you… it was INTENSE

@emmaa0724

I loved this so much more than all the Arrow Mine Trains and I just think it is (soon to be was) a great little family coaster and I am sad to see it go.

CoasterKiwi

It was a very good mine train coaster with just enough intensity and smoothness to be a stepping stone for people to work up to the more thrilling coasters.

Bobby N

Ok I was expecting a normal boring janky mine train ride and this ride really hauls to the point I was genuinely afraid something had gone wrong.

David

Is a bit rougher than most mine trains but it makes up for it by being longer, bigger, faster, and more thrilling than the rest.

Chris Jones

The large sized drops and helices are super fun and I love how the ride picks up speed right away.

Jack Jack J.

A cool mine train, and extremely fast for one.

Birb from not Canada

This train is faster than it looks, and is one of the best mine trains I have ever been on.

@littleZork

The roughness of this ride is what makes it feel like its going faster than it really is.

@krisrhea87

In fact, this ride is almost always a walk-on.

Rough or rattly

But I am grateful I was able to ride the best arrow mine train that I’ve ever ridden.

Cali Thoosie, Captain Coaster review

The layout is the best I’ve seen for a mine coaster, but this ride has gotten much rougher since I rode it in 2015.

David, Captain Coaster review

ThuNderaTion was my favorite coaster as a child, we went several years in a row to Silver Dollar City.

Bobby N, Captain Coaster review

It has a great setting in the woods and takes advantage with huge sweeping turns.
