What riders love
  • The launch is forceful, and the top hat airtime is hilarious.
  • I like how intense the launch was and the tophat gave a lot of airtime.
  • The first half of Sky Rocket is absolutely insane, with a very punchy launch, an ejector-filled top hat, an insane drop off of the midcourse, and two ridiculous inversions.
  • The zero-g roll is absolutely incredible, giving some absurd whip.
  • The zero-g-roll is really snappy but gives off amazing hangtime.
  • The lap bar gives your upper body a lot of freedom and it truly whips you around it.
  • There are a couple of great moments of airtime that I did not expect, like the drop off the midcourse.
  • It has a nice launch, and in the back you get some insane airtime on the top hat.
  • The mcbr drop is another ridiculous ejector moment in the back with or without room and the valley off of it is like oddly tight and forceful.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Kennywood

Only fifty miles an hour, but it’s a fun fifty and there was a wonderful pop of airtime atop the top hat element that begins the ride.

Coaster Critic

Its filled with those rapid s curves that throw you around, a few nice Lil floater airtime hills, and one solid corkscrew that isnt too far behind the zero g roll.

Aric The Kakapo

Some nice positives coming into and out of it and some shocking ejector over the top.

Cooper Zimmerman

Nice zero g roll, but aside from a nice pop of airtime on the drop off the midcourse the ride just dies after.

VelociGOAT

The top hat is okay, but they added a pointless trim brake at the top so you no longer get any air time.

Kristofer Wempa

To those riders I offer Sky Rocket, this is easily the smoothest running coaster with inversions I’ve ever ridden, to say this was a surprise would be a huge understatement.

Coaster Critic

...ride are a little cramped and the shin guards may feel uncomfortable for people with longer/thicker legs, bit I found it perfectly comfortable for me aside from a not-too-too-comfortable headrest.

Aric The Kakapo

Pros: Good launch, good location, very smooth, fun top hat and inversions.

Gavin Sikon

This is a fun family launch coaster that is smooth and comfortable.

David

I got stapled on my last ride and it hurt really bad and my shins were red.

-Negative G force

After a mid-course break run, you take a surprisingly intense drop down to the ground, this time going through more turns and another inversion.

roller rider

I loved the first inversion on Sky Rocket, it was a forceful element that wanted to launch me from the car.

Coaster Critic

The top hat element is my favorite moment of the ride, it’s extremely intense as it gives off Skyrush-like airtime.

Vinnie T

The pull up into the top hat is intense and before you can recover from that, the ride hits you with intense negative gs.

Aric The Kakapo

The launch is not very intense and the first hill and drop are the best part with some fun inversions.

David

I’d say that this is a really great beginner launch coaster for people who have never done one before.

Linzie B.

Both inversions usually hit but after that, its literally as if someone used AutoComplete on this design with drawn out turns and dead bunny hills.

Jack Schillinger

All jokes aside, Sky Rocket is a solid ride and is great until the mid course break run, which afterwards is just at best good and at worst very meh.

Gavin Sikon

There are a couple of great moments of airtime that I did not expect, like the drop off the midcourse.

Chris Jones, Captain Coaster review

The trim brake on the top hat is so dumb, it would be an elite airtime moment without it.

VelociGOAT, Captain Coaster review

The launch and inversions are all great but the second half of the ride kills it, some s-curves and two bunny hills that provide nothing.

Max B., Captain Coaster review

The launch is great, the top hat gives insane airtime, and from there the rest of the layout is great!

John Doe, Captain Coaster review

Sky Rocket is no horizon interrupter, if anything it is a modest coaster, offering a ride length of just shy of one minute and initial drop of less than a hundred feet.

Coaster Critic, published review

The launch is weak and the ride is just okay, until the second half which is not okay...
