What riders love
  • The ending however, where you travel through a wester saloon and take a surprising drop into an underwater tunnel caps off a very solid mine train.
  • You go through a well themed saloon and then head into a surprisingly good drop into a tunnel.
  • The saloon at the end was a very nice element of surprise.
  • Then when you arrive at the break run the setting alongside a lake is really cool.
  • Enjoyable path through the trees and enjoyable drop at the end.
  • It was very long, and gave great views of Shockwave & Mr Freeze.
  • By far the most fun I've had on a Mine Train.
  • It is still a must ride due to the historic nature of the coaster, and it's just plain fun.
  • This is a fun ride that started the "runaway mine train" boom of the 70's.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Six Flags Over Texas

Finishes on a high note as it goes through a cute themed saloon before dropping into a tunnel that gives a surprising sharp pop of air in the back.

Bryan Bonafede

The final drop give out some surprising airtime, which is probably the only highlight about the ride.

Adrian Sokol

You get some great ejector airtime if you are in that back car.

Dylan

There isn’t much comfort in the basic trains with a single position lap bar, and the start to each lift hill and a lot of the transitions are quite jerky.

Matthew Ebert

Runaway Mine Train is pretty bad in the first half but is kind of smooth in the second half.

Lightning Productions

Guys dont go on this ride if you cant handle intensity😨.

@SofaKing880

This ride is a classic, although it hasn’t aged well, it’s still a solid family coaster.

Adrian Sokol

the ride experience is very tame and very long

ben f.

I have rode this ride many many times,seems like it was much faster than the video shows though,especially the last drop after the saloon.

@martindx1961

I still have my cons against it like some dead spots and weird pacing but that seems to plague a lot of Six Flags’s mine train coasters.

Adrian Sokol, Captain Coaster review

This is a fun mine train and it might be one of the better mine trains out there.

Dylan, Captain Coaster review

The theming and integration with buildings and tunnels is truly amazing and if Six Flags took better care of it then it would be Disney quality themed ride.

David, Captain Coaster review

It seemed like an above-average mine train and it was quite enjoyable.

Max S., Captain Coaster review

Enjoyable path through the trees and enjoyable drop at the end.
