What riders love
  • Great pops of airtime on every hill!
  • It's super relentless the entire way through and with the loose lapbars it felt like I was constantly out of my seat.
  • That little bunny hill before the final banked turn is delightfully forceful.
  • The quick pops of floater hit every time and it just provides and excellent overall ride that never feels like it slows down until you've nearly hit the brake run.
  • Really fun GCI woodie that hauls through its layout from start to finish.
  • For me, riding Gold Striker at night is up there for best ever night ride on a coaster. It’s just so relentless in the dark.
  • The tunnel on the drop adds an effect making the drop look bigger.
  • The first drop in the back is insane.
  • The first drop is great, as it is completely enclosed by a tunnel.

Vs. other coasters at California's Great America

Right after the first drop you are mainly somewhat low to the ground hitting turns and airtime hills all with excelent pacing.

Kevin Li

Sometimes, it’s insane airtime and beautiful laterals.

Reed Dutton

It has lots of ejector airtime into all those turns and it is so long, it feels like the longest coaster at Great America.

Lightning Productions

The quick pops of floater hit every time and it just provides and excellent overall ride that never feels like it slows down until you’ve nearly hit the brake run.

HockeyNinja

...minor room for improvement in the layout as there are some dead spots for me such as turns or other sections and a slight lack of sustained airtime moments though the airtime this does have hits hard.

Shmee

That being said it is definitely fun and the train is comfortable, speed throughout does not let up and the extreme banks in the turns are awesome.

Peter Glenn Mihelich

I liked it, but I have to write it, it hurts to ride it, do not even try to be alone in the double seat, you will get smashed around like a doll.

Vojtech Mašek

Ride’s gotten noticeably rougher and darker brown since the glossy opening-year experience but wow, Gold Striker gets me every time.

Jackson Bryman

The tunneled first drop along with few other great near miss elements, along with some really intense but smooth sections, make this a pretty memorable ride.

Evangelion Martini

Gold Striker is fast and ferocious, but superbly paced with a nicely balanced intensity which makes it a top class ride: it regularly ranks highly within the Golden Ticket Awards’ annual list of top...

Theme Park James

Probably the most relentless wooden coaster I‘ve ever ridden.

Valentin Schneider

The ride has great intensity and pacing, which is mainly because of the amazing laterals and twisted layout.

NorCal Coaster Media

This ride is very intense, it has a relentless pace and has a lot of great airtime pops throughout the ride.

Niko Ramos

Gold Striker at California’s Great America is arguably the most intense ride from Great Coasters International.

Canobie Coaster

The pacing was fast, and that was great, but the only forces I felt were some decent laterals, but no strong positive or negative Gs.

Erik C.

Great pacing, the first drop in the tunnel is fun, and you get absolutely launched out of your seat at times.

Austin L.

After that, you go through a crazy layout with powerful laterals and some surprising airtime moments, and the pacing is amazing too, and you keep that insane speed all the way through.

Eli Lassiter Michael

Great woodie, awesome first drop, feels like it’s going much faster than it should be able to.

Marshall Bradley

Rough or rattly

Very aggressive coaster that throws you in literally every direction.

Preston S., Captain Coaster review

It obviously has not been maintained so it’s just painful no matter where you sit.

David, Captain Coaster review

I liked it, but I have to write it, it hurts to ride it, do not even try to be alone in the double seat, you will get smashed around like a doll.

Vojtech Mašek, Captain Coaster review

This is probably my favorite wooden coaster I’ve ridden so far, and I’m not normally a wooden coaster person.

Sarah Smith, Captain Coaster review

Gold Striker is fast and ferocious, but superbly paced with a nicely balanced intensity which makes it a top class ride: it regularly ranks highly within the Golden Ticket Awards’ annual list of top wooden coasters.

Theme Park James, published review

Was excited to go on this before it closed and it was miserable.
