Vs. other coasters at California's Great America
It has a decent sense of speed after the first turnaround, and when it’s running at its fastest, you get a mild pop of floater on the second-to-last hill.
Castor
...is a rollercoaster which is both terribly rough and almost forceless at the same time: Airtime is non-existent as it slows to a crawl over the tops of its hills, and the parts where it does speed...
Theme Park James
It doesn’t have much airtime and kind of meanders around, but if it gets lines away from other coasters, then I guess it fills its purpose.
Max S.
I won’t rate it lower than a 2/5 because there isn’t any major discomfort, but there’s no forces or fun to be had on this.
Kellen Grady
It is a nice change of pace and surprisingly comfortable.
Ryan B
There are far better rollercoasters to ride at California’s Great America, and Grizzly is only really good if you’re after an extremely uncomfortable place to sit down.
Theme Park James
A rattly mess with 0 redeeming qualities totally wasting its size and potential with the most shallow and uncomfortable transitions I’ve ever seen.
Shmee
I read everyone’s negative reviews before riding it so I was surprised how intense and weird and interesting this ride actually was.
David
I thought this was a rather nice wooden coaster, fills a mid-level, almost family intensity slot for this park.
Brian Start
Not every rollercoaster needs to be an intensity machine.
Ryan B
As for the ride experience, it’s a janky, rattly leisurely cruise around the layout that will give you little to no thrills while crushing your lap the entire time.
Evangelion Martini
...is both terribly rough and almost forceless at the same time: Airtime is non-existent as it slows to a crawl over the tops of its hills, and the parts where it does speed through are bumpy and rough.
Theme Park James
The queue always moves painfully slow, because the ride operators always seem to take literally 5 minutes preparing each train.
John Montague
Would be a hell of a lot less disappointing if the operations on this ride weren’t so anemic.
Jackson Bryman
Always follow the rules, warnings and restrictions posted by the park.
The first drop and the drop off the turn around are pretty good, and both have a good pop of airtime the coaster isn’t that rough and it’s a decent coaster.
RThirtyEight Coasters, Captain Coaster reviewYes it’s boring at times; but there is a nice turnaround and some laterals.
Reed Dutton, Captain Coaster reviewI remember the first drop being great and the ride to be really fun overall but looking back at it, it dosen’t look all that great.
Lukedaballer, Captain Coaster reviewThere are far better rollercoasters to ride at California’s Great America, and Grizzly is only really good if you’re after an extremely uncomfortable place to sit down.
Theme Park James, published reviewThe best word I could use to describe this coaster is pointless.
Eli Lassiter Michael, Captain Coaster reviewI read everyone’s negative reviews before riding it so I was surprised how intense and weird and interesting this ride actually was.
