What riders love
  • The ride experience itself is fun for what it is, and there is a great moment at the top when they flip you upside down and you just hang as you zoom along.
  • You get some unreal hangtime on the in-line twist and the pop of ejector after that is KILLER.
  • The heartline roll at 150 feet in the air is amazing for views and hang time. It feels like quite a long time to go through the element.
  • This coaster pulls some serious G's in a short span of time.
  • The attention-getting feature of the ride is the roll inversion that slowly dangles you upside down 150 feet in the air, like a sort of high-altitude jojo roll, but what really impresses me are the whippy lateral forces as the track twists around to keep you upright through the rest of the ride.
  • The swing launch sequence is great and awesome in the back or in the front for the sense of speed.
  • The second launch is actually pretty good accelerating backwards.
  • The backwards section is wild and the hang time after the third launch is so good.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Lake Compounce

Decent laterals and the entire second half of the climb is ejector airtime.

Bubble Gaming

I’m still getting floater at the top of this.

Accelerated Creative

It had ejector airtime, strong laterals, strong g forces, some decent launches, and overall was genuinely a great ride.

@TheBacklitSheep

Clayton Latone

A great addition to the park and an overall very smooth ride.

Casey Maymon

The dip on the loop is absolutely thrilling, and you’ll be treated to some of the smoothest track out there while twisting through it.

Theme Park Crazy

The only problems I have with this coaster is how it’s too short, and it felt like it snapped my spine in half, but maybe that’s because I rode it 7 times.

Wicked Cyclone

I got crushed by the lap bar and I couldn’t wait for it to be over by the time we hit the non-inverting loop.

Jack Jack J.

The bottom of the drop is super forceful, so much so that it is painful.

Bubble Gaming

This coaster pulls some serious G’s in a short span of time.

David

The swing launch sequence is great and awesome in the back or in the front for the sense of speed.

Blathers

The final launch is also pretty good in the sense of speed.

Bubble Gaming

When I went on this I was screaming so loud I was shook it’s legitimately fast 😂

@jayejani8051

Capacity is not an issue because I’ve never seen the line for this coaster reach far out of the station, and dispatches are pretty quick.

Blathers

All the times I’ve ridden this, it’s been a near-walk-on since many of the general public visiting Compounce seem terrified to ride it, true to its name.

Matt McIrvin

The launching mechanic is smooth as butter, but it is a very short ride however easily lap-able due to having next to no lines

Clayton Latone

I’m not sure if it’s because Lake Compounce is a family-oriented park but I never had a line on my 7 rides I got in on Phobia.

David

Only downside for all of these is capacity.

This is easily the 2nd best ride at Lake Compounce and it is very fun.

Blathers, Captain Coaster review

And short. Too short. One-train operations (obviously) was not a problem.

David, Captain Coaster review

Great ride with so good inversions and the corkscrew is really cool.

Casey Maymon, Captain Coaster review

The award for the shortest complete coaster probably goes to this.

Bubble Gaming, Captain Coaster review

Phobia Phear Coaster was a great addition to my home park and is a really smooth Sky Rocket 2 clone with just a lap bar, so you get a ton of hang time on the heartline roll at the top and feel the ejector airtime of the 1st drop that whips you down into the next obstacle.

Clayton Latone, Captain Coaster review

the anxiety in the line was terrifying but besides me thinking that I’m going to fall off, it was pretty fun
