What riders love
  • The launch had a kick to it, it made my legs hit my seat, and it hurt a bit, but in a good way.
  • It starts with a very forceful first launch (definitely make sure you keep your head back).
  • It has a nice powerful launch and the legendary holding brake is best the further back you go.
  • Pretty simple ride, it’s good fun and the moment your hanging face down gives you a great chance to locate your car in the parking lot.
  • I absolutely love Intamins of this early 2000s vintage and this one is stylish, smooth, powerful, and fun.
  • My first and only impulse coaster to date. Pretty wild experience.
  • The way the ride snatches the train in midair and the LIMs start screaming is absolutely hilarious, on top of being a pretty frightening sensation.
  • I really like the use of the brake on the final spike. It's fun to hang there and then suddenly get dropped.
  • This was also the first one that has a holding brake on the spike. What a fun surprise.

Vs. other coasters at Valleyfair

I absolutely love Intamins of this early 2000s vintage and this one is stylish, smooth, powerful, and fun.

David

Good first launch, when at the top of the straight spike it holds you for a second longer which caught me off guard and hurt my leg a little but overall good ride.

Maxen Wirkkula

I noticed a slightly uncomfortable rattle on the pullouts.

guiderex

I don’t know why these don’t get more love...it was by far the most intense coaster at Valleyfair.

Sean Reardon

It starts with a very forceful first launch (definitely make sure you keep your head back).

Michael M.

The launch is intense toward the front.

James Jenkins

I went on this had a panic attack from the very fast start and didnt know what was happening..

@zitrone9187

It’s like if it weren’t for the trim on that midcourse, it would have some air time.

Coaster Studios

Still bad at capacity, but with the holding brake, it’s great.

Christopher S.
Height fear

That vertical spike in the back row is downright terrifying, and certainly does it’s job as a supporting coaster.

CHARLES H.

In the back the holding brake is absolutely horrifying, being nearly 200 feet in the air with your body against the restraint.

Not sure why this is the lowest ranked Intamin impulse in the states when it is without question the best one because of that holding brake.

Bryan Bonafede, Captain Coaster review

I’d always wanted to ride an impulse with the holding brake, and now that I’ve gotten to, it doesn’t disappoint in the slightest.

Ethan S., Captain Coaster review

Steel Venom, like all Impulse coasters, is a very fun ride and definetly something I would recommend to anyone going to Valleyfair.

Maxen Wirkkula, Captain Coaster review

This is easily my favorite ride at Valleyfair and the coaster that made me get over my fear of roller coasters.

Gavin, Captain Coaster review
