What riders love
  • The base camp area at the bottom of the mountain is so realistic and immersive it. is. INSANE.
  • While you're watching or on it, you really think it's the tallest mountain in the world --- in Florida!!
  • You really feel like you're on a mountain.
  • A super fun experience that never gets old.
  • My daughter went on it comfortably at age 7 and loved it.
  • I rode this coaster 3 times during my day in Animal Kingdom, and it didn’t disappoint.
  • This was way more intense than I expected. The backward element was a total surprise.
  • You then suddenly lurch backwards down into the dark mountain before coming face to face with the Yeti itself.
  • I sat near the front and got ejected like crazy in the backwards section.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Everest provides solid positives in the backwards section, nice floater on the big drop, incredible theming.

uhhh roller coasters

The theming is the best I’ve ever experienced and the drop at the end has a surprising amount of airtime.

ROLLER COASTER

I sat near the front and got ejected like crazy in the backwards section.

Ryan Armstrong

The helix afterwards is surprisingly forceful and there’s some good airtime moments right before the end.

Spektr 46

This coaster has no airtime, so if you really like that, you will be dissapointed.

Bryant Buckles

the first drop was steeper than i thought and it ran pretty well, its like a very small vibration.

Sam M.

The trains and lapbar are comfortable and the queue is very well themed.

Emery S.

It’s very smooth and fast, but it’s a not world class layout either.

Alec Mr Coaster

This is a great rollercoaster with the only flaw in my eyes being the ending, the brakes are a little rough and hurt my head a little bit.

Max B.

It’s still quite comfortable overall, but it can cause a minor headache if you marathon it since some of those bumps occur during the helixes.

Canobie Coaster

The theming is phenomenal even by Disney standards, the backwards section pulls some nice forces, and the ride builds tension exceptionally well.

Emery S.

It feels like a Schwarzkopf on the indoor backwards section with the high positive g-forces but feels like a zierer tivoli on others.

StealthConstruction

This is as close to an intense coaster as Disney has to offer in my opinion.

Sean Reardon

fantastic theming, though it was a little too thrilling for me at the time when i rode it back in 2020.

kitty diana

Totally unexpected on what is a relatively tame ride (other than that).

@jeffc1347

The backwards section is fun and the turn around has some positives, it´s just a family coaster tho, don´t expect much more than that

Pedro Valverde

It is certainly themed like one and it doesn’t have any inversions, but it goes *much* faster than your typical mine train.

Michael M.

This has a great layout and fast pace, with some lulls in the middle that give a breather.

Bryant Buckles

The ride also has some pretty good speed for a Disney coaster and definitely one of the better coasters Disney has.

Keystone Coasters

Yes, there is some force, especially on the backwards section, and it’s quite a technical ride but the pacing is terrible.

Zach

There were some dead spots but I still think this ride is amazing

Mik Gov

The capacity is pretty good and the operations are insanely efficient, the fact that they can get this ride running the way they do is a miracle.

Emery S.

The queue line usually not too long and I love the part where you go through the museum room and get to look at things from the yeti museum in Anandapur.

Jake McGarry

The drop out of the mountain, and the backwards section pull some great forces, the theming is incredible (hair ties aside), and it doesn’t usually get long lines.

Jax Lunsford

The line also moves so quick a 4 hour line in other theme parks takes them 30 minutes they have great dispatches.

Isaiah White

Like any other Disney ride, the lines are ridiculous, but that doesn’t take away from how fun it is.

Alexandra W.
Height fear

I thought I would be scared senseless on it, but it wasn’t bad.

JerseyJanice

I still get a little scared on the lift hill into the imposing mountain facade.

the wait times are very rarely above an hour and the ride is usually worth waiting for.

Criticised for

Slowed by trims

It was not, it was way crazier than I expected and had a crazy head chopper with the yeti.

Coaster Tortoise, Captain Coaster review

Seems to be really really overhyped for what amounts to a less interesting big thunder with uninteresting effects, terrible overall flow thanks to the switch tracks and a fairly dull layout.

Tom F., Captain Coaster review

From what I can remember, the ride was amazing, with a really intense backwards section and helix toward the end of the ride.

Drive Safely, Captain Coaster review

This ride is all about the theming and the encounter with an actual (!!!) Yeti that occasionally leaves droppings on the track (or so I’ve heard).

The Real E-Rock, Captain Coaster review

I feel sane, but as the train leaves for Expedition Everest, there are only two ways to judge it, as a coaster, or as a ride, and as a coaster it fails.

Coaster Critic, published review

This is as close to an intense coaster as Disney has to offer in my opinion.
