Backseat at night should be on everyone's bucket list.
you being on top of them for half the ride!
What riders love
  • There is a good amount of violence in some of the transitions, often in the form of the drop suddenly steepening, tossing you out of your seat.
  • You get like 15cm of airtime with the single position lap bar.
  • Somewhat mild in the front, but there are pops of real standing airtime at the back and violent laterals at the back.
  • This ride is like 100 years old but it runs better and is smoother than some wooden coasters built in the 80s or later and this gives absolutely incredible forces.
  • This thing is almost 100 years old and is still one of the best woodies out there for sure, that should put a perspective on how absolutely amazing this thing is.
  • Really surprised by the strong airtime hills and how it does not lose pace along the ride.
  • To start, the seats are extremely comfortable, feeling like a couch, and the lap bars leave a lot of room for some quality airtime.
  • The seats and the restraints are soft and very large, so you can actually feel like you're flying out of your seat during the drop and the hills!
  • There is thick cushioning on all parts of the seat, which soak up 90% of the rattle from the ride.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Luna Park

There is a good amount of violence in some of the transitions, often in the form of the drop suddenly steepening, tossing you out of your seat.

Blake Stoudt

Has great airtime and laterals

Gwazi Three Two Five

There are extreme lateral g’s on the shallowly banked turns, and there is some great floater/ejector airtime on some of the hills.

Matt K

The seats and the restraints are soft and very large, so you can actually feel like you’re flying out of your seat during the drop and the hills!

Alessandra

The airtime was mediocre at best, and the intensity did not live up to the hype.

Erik C.

The first turn is a little intense and you really do have to hold on, but its relatively smooth smooth after that, especially in the front.

Bri K

To start, the seats are extremely comfortable, feeling like a couch, and the lap bars leave a lot of room for some quality airtime.

Matt K

despite the obvious rattle and the foul smell coming into the last tunnel, the historical aspect of the cyclone completely eclipses it.

Esme B.

The restraints are so worn down and ragged that I got a rug burn on my arm on one of the corners.

Keltic Johnson

This ride is like 100 years old but it runs better and is smoother than some wooden coasters built in the 80s or later and this gives absolutely incredible forces.

Jonas

It’s genuinely too much (but I love it.)

Zach Payne

It was more intense than I expected.

Hugo Rubio Wojski

This has good forces all over.

Blake Stoudt

The ride itself I was afraid of getting beaten up but actually found it to be quite tame except for a couple quick lateral turns that threw me sideways in my seat.

David

Really surprised by the strong airtime hills and how it does not lose pace along the ride.

Sóstenes Gutembergue

Got first public train of the season and it was hauling even in 40 degree weather.

@BoulderDashBoy

It was AMAZING and it was much faster than what it seems like in videos!

Rough or rattly

Great floater throughout and surprisingly strong laterals, and extremely smooth for being nearly 109 years old.

Colin M., Captain Coaster review

I thought it was alright after riding it near the middle, so I rode it near the back and it is the worst and most overrated coaster I’ve ever experienced.

kristalic, Captain Coaster review

I don’t think I got the best ride on this coaster when I rode Cyclone, and it did not impress me as much as I though it would.

Erik C., Captain Coaster review

This thing is almost 100 years old and is still one of the best woodies out there for sure, that should put a perspective on how absolutely amazing this thing is.

guiderex, Captain Coaster review

Huge historical significance; this is a ride that needs to be on absolutely every coaster fans to do list, at least once.

Dave Scott, Captain Coaster review

this ACE landmark may have a layout that was duplicated at a lot of parks but this ride still holds up first off the seats are like couch cushions making the overall roughness tolerable and even then they do a great job maintaining the ride
