What riders love
  • The PTC lap bar gives so much room for air time. And wow this coaster gives you air.
  • Front is floater air, back is ejector.
  • Some hills don't hit, but plenty of others give floater, and one or two give a brief pop of ejector.
  • It was my last coaster of the day and couldn't get enough. I absolutely loved it.
  • I remember riding this ride as a child and growing up with it. I love and treasure it.
  • this ride is spectacular. awesome airtime & laterals.
  • The first drop definitely still hits for its ~100ft. height.
  • This ride also has decently good laterals and great drops.

Performance

Vs. other coasters at Six Flags Great Escape

Preferred the back for the drop and getting yanked down off the turnarounds, particularly the first one, but the front offers good air as well.

Blake Stoudt

After whipping around that wild mouse like turn, we get ejected out of our seats as we jump back down to the ground.

Incredible Coasters

Front is floater air, back is ejector.

Alexander Sims

Comet isn’t the most intense coaster but I found it to be the most interesting ride at Great Escape with its old school steel structure and airtime hills.

David

The airtime isn’t really there on most hills, but I could still appreciate how smooth the ride was for its age.

Shark Bite

I don’t remember this ride too much but I remember being smooth and having a fun layout with some nice airtime moments including this one very strong one that sent me flying with the amount of room I...

Carter Eckhart

Pretty smooth overall.

Blake Stoudt

I’m glad Six Flags has managed to keep it smooth at least, but I wish they could do something to it to make it run fast again.

@Commacozzy

It’s a bit rough on my back on the low point of each drop so I just brace myself but it’s fairly minor for a wooden coaster.

David

It’s very rough though, you do have to brace a couple times.

Mr. Roller Coasters

Now on most old classic wooden coasters, you expect these lifthills to be slow, but Comet has one fast lifthill.

Incredible Coasters

...as well as moments of jarring snaps that keep riders on their toes at attention, and it is fast, so considering the review comparing its old speedier days, if that is true it must have been one...

@bobsquires4521

It’s definitely slowed down which really pains me to see.

Carter Eckhart, Captain Coaster review

I was somewhat disappointed in the end but it was still my favorite ride at Great Escape.

Shark Bite, Captain Coaster review

Secondly, it is easily the best coaster The Great Escape has ever had.

Incredible Coasters, published review

I would TOTALLY recommend riding Comet if you are at Six Flags Great Escape because not only is it BY FAR the best ride in the park, but it’s also currently one of the highest ranked woodies on Incrediblecoasters.
